Should I purchase this fine set of lamps?
They're $30 and not EXACTLY what I'm looking for, but I've yet to find any MCM lamps (or lamp shades for that matter) in my extensive search of the St. Louis area. The lack of retro lighting is definitely becoming frustrating.
I guess they're pretty cool, but... hmmmm... I'm just not sure.
Wait for some you really like a lot. There are so many great MCM lamps out there... these are not.
ReplyDeleteI gotta agree with anonymous. If you bought those you'll constantly be getting phone calls from 1993 wanting their shades back.
ReplyDeleteDude, everything that's cool is in St Louis. Apparently it just isn't your time yet. Patience will pay off big for you.
With the right shades, those would look very cool. And, it's hard to find two matching lamps. $30 for both? or each? I've been searching for a while, here in the Detroit area.
ReplyDeleteNaturally, those shades would be replaced with something a little more period-appropriate. If I'm really lucky, maybe I'll come across some tiered fiberglass shades.
ReplyDeleteBy the time you replaced the shades (which Dave is right about...totally 1993), you would have wiped out your bargain.
ReplyDeleteYou'll eventually find the perfect pair on eBay or Craigslist...or somewhere. I have a great lamp I found on eBay...but the ones I have in my living room and bedroom came from Lamps Plus, and they look perfectly at home with my mid-century furniture.
i would ask u to wait...30 doesnt seem like a lot but believe me u may end up finding something more of ur liking for 40...happens with me all the time :)
