The Hunt

At this point, I think that my search for a living room rug could take up its own blog.  Yet, I haven't found the perfect specimen.  Any of these tickle your fancy?  Overstock is running a 15% off sale on area rugs that ends at midnight, so hopefully I can figure something out.  Considering how indecisive I've been about this whole rug ordeal, I wouldn't count on it.

  1. Nick, seriously...go to Garden Ridge. We were there two days ago and there were HUNDREDS of rugs in all sizes, colors and patterns, but hurry...they tend to buy closeout stuff that won't be there long. Some pretty cool ones too. Also check Old Time Pottery up here by us. They don't have as many as Garden Ridge but they always have SOME cool ones. This way, you get a chance to handle the rugs before you shell out the dough.

  2. If you want the opinion of a middle aged, straight guy, whose taste is only slightly better than Elvis' - you need a power punch of color in that room. I'd go for something orangish.

  3. I'm not a guy, but I kind of agree with Dave - I like the orangey and orangey-red tones. I wouldn't go with the burgundy-ish ones.

  4. This time around ur choices are very very indian...i am drooling over almost all of them...most indian rugs and carpets from kashmir are awesome and pure wool handwoven ones always win my heart hands down...i am going a little patterny with my choices...coming from India..i guess 2nd one is something that would have been the royal choice (gold makes it look sleek and shiny i guess)...and then the last one looks fresh cos of the blues..but as i said i could go with any one of them :)

  5. I personally think the one you have doesn't look too bad. But if you feel you need to change my preference would be in the orange vein to help pull out the rest of your room. I'm definetely not a decorator but you don't want to detract from the rest of your great room!

  6. I agree with the orange comments as well. I wish I could find something like this:

I also really like the more traditional kilim/orientals and exotic cowhides. Might swing by Garden Ridge a try this weekend and see if I can come up with anything. If not, Tandy Leather still has a sale on and I'm sure that Overstock will do another area rug reduction soon.

  8. As a stand-alone, the hand-tufted one is pretty chic. The only rug on your list I disagree with is the Kaalein.
