The final countdown

Today is the final day of Rugmania 2012, so get your final votes in and we'll hopefully be placing the order tonight!  Have a little trouble visualizing what they would look like last time around?  Well, I've put my excellent Photoshop skills to work...

As it stands, the vote tally is at 4 for rug #1 and 5 for #2.  Every vote counts!

  1. Now that you've shown them in the room, I'm changing my vote to #1. Call me wishy-washy. :)

  2. totally #1! with number 1 i look over the entire room and appreciate all pieces. with #2 my eye just goes right to the rug and stays there.

  3. Guess we're too late for our vote to count, but for the record it would have been #1!

  4. I liked #1 better also. And I'll throw in a vote for some floor to ceiling drapes!

  5. Not too late! It looks like #1 is the clear winner of the online poll with 8 votes to #2's 4. Now it's time for the real test: which one does the girlfriend like.

  6. Vintage Hunter - I despise those curtains! I picked them up for my apartment back in college and just haven't had the funds/time to replace them. I haven't even hung them properly and they are still on tension rods. We're thinking about going with blinds in either white or teak.

  7. I think you should hold out for vintage. You are in St. Louis, for heaven sake. Epicenter of all the greatest mid mod in the world. Stalk some estate sales --- see what the RDGs (Retro Decorating Gods) send you.

  9. Pam - Unfortunately, while St. Louis does have a lot of mid/low-level mid century modern furniture floating around, the people that own it have generally thrown out their old decor (rugs, pillows, curtains, etc.) and paired it with "granny" stuff. You know, precious moments figurines, pastel textiles, clown paintings and the like. I've been checking estate sales and Craigslist for a good long while and never seen a single rug that fits the style :(

Sudha - You don't even want to know. I've filled up my entire desktop with links to different rugs. After yesterday, I thought that I was set on number 1, but I took the idea to my girlfriend and she thinks that I should get a "natural color" (ie brown/beige) jute rug. Hmmm... at least I have until the 1st of February to figure it out.
