Flying high

Cross one more project off of the list (sort of).  The Curtis Jeré "Birds in Flight" is now hung and the star of the show in the dining room.

I still can't believe that I found one at all, much less pulled it out of a barn.  Who would stick something so gorgeous out there?

Well, I can't really say anything, as mine's been stuffed in an attic for months waiting for the day that I found an appropriate method to hang it on plaster walls.  One of the two mounting hooks broke loose and plaster doesn't exactly hold up well under load, so I had to get a little creative...

... and by creative, I mean very reckless.  Yes, the whole of this 6 foot long sculpture is now perched tenuously upon one 30 lb picture hanger and nail with frame hanging wire strung between a mounting hook and one of the flock's  behinds.

Please say a quick prayer for that poor nail.

    1. They're great pieces, aren't they? I've got a "birds over sunset" of my own, but its more of a sunset and than birds (the previous owner removed all the birds). Still pretty cool though.

    1. THey're always one of my favorites. They actually still make a few of the old Artisan House pieces.

    1. I could certainly do with one of those. I need to get back into the whole thrifting and estate sale thing and find one. It's been a busy winter and I just haven't had the time.

  4. Know exactly where you are coming from! When I hang a "new" picture on the wall, if its 50+ years and heavy I just about end up putting a "catch pillow" under it for a week or so. Prayer said. Looks wonderful though!

  5. I actually just scooted my "catch pillows" out of the way for these shots. Great minds think alike. I really need to find something more stable for this thing. I can imagine it busting into a million brass pieces if it ever were to fall. That'd be crushing.

  6. The Jere looks great in your dining room - it's a good scale to really command a wall. Enjoy! CT
