We've gone through a number of adjustments at the homestead, so I thought it'd be a good time to update the house tour. The place is really starting to come together and look like an actual grown-up residence. Considering that I bought my first home and began collecting less than a year and a half ago, I'd say we're making good progress. Don't worry though. There's still plenty of work to be done and Mid-Mod finds to share!
So, without further adieu, here's the grand tour.

I don't have pictures of the unfinished office, master bedroom, or basement as of yet. Just picture piles of old furniture needing restoration, moving boxes, and other assorted junk and you'll have close enough of an idea how those spaces currently look.
Really nice. You have such excellent taste in furniture. I love your dining room especially. And I had no idea your exterior looked like that! Really unusual a cool looking. And I like the decorating with clocks theme too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rebecca. The exterior is pretty typical for a St. Louis city home. I"m not sure who the builder was, but there are thousands of these all over the metro area. It looks kinda "gingerbready" 1940's on the outside, so people are always surprised when they come in and it's all Mod 1960's.
DeleteLooookin gooood Mr Kotter. The side table with the horse blanket and plant (4th pic), is that LANE?
ReplyDeleteYou guessed right. That's a Lane Copenhagen side table. I really like that line, but it always struck me as more Oriental than European.
DeleteI picked up the matching step (two tier) side tables of the same line for $5.00 at a yard sale. One has a small water ring stain, big deal easy fix. Geez if I was only a few thousand miles closer I'd let you have them cheap. I really need to get them online soon.
DeleteTHey're great little tables and the precursor to the Lane Acclaim line, which is one of my favorites. If you look closely, you can see that they borrowed several parts and design cues from the Copenhagen when making the Acclaim.
DeleteLooks great!! It has been fun following your journey!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ali! It's been fun (mostly), but we still have a looooooong way to go.
DeleteDo you really need 2 Eames loungers? I mean, really, hoard much? Gawd. ;) j/k
ReplyDeleteWhile I love everything, where'd you get the bottom black and white blanket on the guest bed? I love the pattern!
Oops. What makes it worse is that I actually have 4. I might need an intervention!
DeleteMost of the textiles in the home are from Ikea and I believe that's where the two blankets on the end of the bed came from. They make lovely bedding.
Ikea? No way. Okay...I'm off to the website now!
Delete4? Four? FOUR!@!%^7^%& EAMES LOUNGE CHAIRS!!!!! Hatechu. ;)
Not REAL Eames lounges (I wish). They're vintage replicas mostly by a company named Plycraft. They're still very good quality and oh-so-comfy though.
Delete... and here's the links for the blankets and throw pillows on the guest bed:

Your kitchen is to die for! I really enjoy your style, and Brazillia and the sputnik - be still my heart. I love the 1930's looks of the front of the house, the stone work is wonderful. Very nice, very grown up and stylish.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mick. I'm kinda torn on the kitchen, as I'd love vintage metal cabinets and appliances, which is what the house had before the renovators gutted everything (including an untouched vintage bathroom and kitchen). They ended up just throwing it all in the dump!
DeleteYou did an excellent job, room after room. Two thumbs up!
ReplyDeleteTHanks Ton! I've got a few posts coming up soon that should be right up your alley.
DeleteNice house! So much to love!
ReplyDeleteThanks Crystal!
