At Least I Don't Have a Garage

At this point, things are looking a little more Grey Gardens than Farnsworth House.  So it is time to do so some clearing out.

Yeah...

I've got a few things that need to go.

But what do I toss and what do I keep?  There's been so many times in the past that I've sold pieces and regretted it later, but I guess that worry is why we ended up with the furniture hoard.

Tough decisions must be made.

  1. Tough decisions indeed! I hated having to decide what stayed and what went when I downsized into my little house. I sold my Aeron and my dining set, and I've never stopped missing them. You have some great pieces stored away, and it looks like you have some agonizing to do.

    1. Gonna be a tough one. I remember selling a Brasilia set for really cheap a while back thinking that I'd find another one soon. Then all of the Brasilia seemed to disappear out of St. Louis. Now I'm hesitant to get rid of anything that I like (which is everything).

    1. Thanks anon. If you are in St. Louis, they are listed on Craigslist.

  3. oh, my! great collection. i'd be tempted to just buy a bigger house just so i could keep it all. drooling over several things that caught my eye… especially the tulip chairs with the green and orange seat pads. is there a store the items you decide not to keep would be sold at? or will you sell online?

    1. Now that's an idea. I need another house!

I do all of my selling on Craigslist as there's no overhead and its much easier.

  4. Please do keep us posted on what you decide. I live in St. Louis and I see quite a few things in these pics that I wouldn't mind showing off in my own house. Not to mention, I sure could use an Aeron chair in my office!

    1. Should have some listings up shortly. The white Barcelonas are up already.

  5. Is that Eames chair black or brown? If it's black and you want to get rid of it, let me know. I'd be interested in buying it or maybe trading for something I have. I'm around St. Louis too. Email me at AtomicAgeAlchemy@gmail.com if it is something you want to get rid of.

    1. I've got both, though they are Plycrafts and not the real deal. Might be listing them on Craigslist soon, but if you see anything that you're interested in, just shoot me a message.

  6. I'm honestly not trying to be an enabler, however you CAN NOT get rid of the Wegner folding rope chairs. You'll regret it for-ev-er!

  7. Whoa...I'd be willing to drive down to STL for your garage sale! 2 Eames loungers? (Do they have ottomans?) All the Bertoia chairs?! And that Eames Hang it All?! I'm in awe!

PS: I like your version of Gray Gardens better than the original! STAUNCH!

    1. Thanks Diana. Oh man. If I had a garage to have a garage sale in I wouldn't be in this predicament. Wish I'd had that higher up on my priorities list when buying a place.

  8. KEEP. THE. BARCELONA. CHAIRS. It would appear I am in the same predicament a you! My late grandmother left me SO many things (things I didn't even know about) I knew I would inherit a few coffee tables, and a divan & chair set. BUT GOOD LORD. My storage unit is so full I can only open the door. I hope you can wade through your "hoard" and give me a few tips later haha!
