3.4 fluid ounces or less

Just because I've nearly given up on the thrift shops, it doesn't mean that there's nothing out there to find.

Take this American Airlines travel bag, gifted to me by a friend and fellow thrift enthusiast, as an example.

Distributed to first and business class passengers, these little bags are one of the last vestiges of airline luxury and tend to be well-designed and filled with quality toiletries and travel accessories.  This example is suitably done up in red reinforced canvas with a stripe of lovely off-white Eames Dot patterned fabric and polished steel logo..

Open it up and you'll find a contrasting black Eames Dot liner and Eames label.

The (rather delicate) zips also fit the theme

I'm a big fan of the Eames Dot pattern (designed in 1947 by Charles and Ray Eames and produced by Maharam), so I was pretty excited when I saw this one.  Now my toiletries can travel (and be rummaged through by the TSA) in style.

  1. Lucky you! I have one in gray and black nylon that I use for a cosmetic bag in my purse, but it isn't as cool a style as yours. Mine just has the Eames dot printed on the zipper pull, not as the pull itself.

    1. Yep, there's a few different versions. So far I've seen them in black, gray, and red in a few shapes and sizes. Cool little bags and they are great for liquid carry-ons for those of us who slum it in coach.
